Our series of articles, taking readers on a 360 degree tour of how behavioural science is transforming our lives 24/7 continues with two new articles for 2018:
1. Nudging travel energy consciousness: We are all aware that climate change is one of the pressing issues of today. As well as industry and government initiatives to tackle it we also need to individually take action to tackle our own big carbon footprints. One of the biggest reductions we can make is to reduce our footprint from our car. Behavioural science has huge potential to inspire and change behaviours related to travel and is already driving simple changes that help us drive more fuel efficiently, initiatives which we cover in this article.
2. Nudging our white coats: Artificial intelligence is on everyone’s lips, none less so than how it could transform the healthcare sector. Its potential to advance healthcare with robotics, telemedicine and personalised medicine is far reaching but also high cost. Along with this future AI vision there is also strong evidence today from the behavioural sciences that tiny changes, with minimal costs, can have a big impact on improving the quality of care for patients. Big problems don’t always need big solutions.
This article takes a step back from consumer nudges and looks at how people - patients in this case - are getting better outcomes through the application of BE to guide and improve the decision-making of doctors and healthcare workers, ensuring more accurate diagnoses, safer and lower cost treatments and more transparent decision-making.
Look out for more articles to be published later this year.
